According to police, Latino callers are texting or calling victims stating they know where the victim works or lives and implies a threat of harm if the victim does not comply with demands of money to the caller, said Southampton Police Lt. Susan Ralph.

There have also been several calls and texts using the same graphic photo or similar graphic photos depicting an execution-style murder, she said.

"Southampton Town Police are warning the community of this scam and want the community to avoid sending any money to the subjects," Ralph added.

Ralph said anyone who receives these types of calls/texts, should contact their local police agency.
